Dodd Strikes Back at Big Banks

One regulator to rule them all, one regulator to bring Dodd another win? In a move some think is calculated to stem populist rage against him in next year’s reelection campaign, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd is preparing a bill that would radically change the regulation of American banks. His legislation—dramatically at odds with the preferred course of the president and the House—would create a single new agency in charge of bank supervision, stripping those powers away from the FDIC and the Federal Reserve. Dodd’s extreme position, according to The Wall Street Journal, would likely meet tough resistance from his fellow legislators as well as the banking industry, which Dodd has been criticized for being too close to. (For example, last year Dodd drew fire for allegedly receiving below-market mortgages because Countrywide considered him a “special” customer—rather inconvenient in an age of anti-Wall Street fury.)

Last year Dodd takes a bribe from Countrywide bank. This year he is charge of regulation Countrywide bank and other banks.

Would Connecticut please fire Dodd at the next election so we could have an honest Senator in charge of the banking committee? THANKS!

Unfortunately amapola101 the only zionist we have as a referrence are Perle, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Faith, Kristol etc etc and their now defunct PNAC think tank.
Not the nicest group of zionist and pro-zionist people.

These nice zionist who perpetuate terrorism in the form of a police state and unbalanced military agression against the palestinian people
.
These nice zionist who are complicit if not wholey responsible for promoting the BS that Ahmed Chalabi was selling for years (The CIA had cut him off from their payroll and the FBI's criminal analyses group considered him a pathological liar) that Iraq had nuclear capabilities and vast stores of WMD's.. The very intelligence that Cheney and his neocon prozionist used to "cherry pick" intelligence to justify and sell the war to an unsuspecting slight scared and confused america.

Unfortunately these are the zionist and pro-zionist folks we have to look to.

slimpirate, but they are still a minority I could mention 100 leaders,or politicians ,that are not zionist, and are bad. But I can understand your explanations, and I appreciate. The world has much bigger problems, that the zionist. the muslim terrorism, is there, and against the jews, the christians, the infidels the western nation, our freedom, our way of being, our existence.,and for exploding themselves and innocent they are blessed in heaven But even in the muslims there are good people, but you do not hear them often. Hopefully, someway, somehow, people can live together in peace, but crooks come in all religioons colors and nantionalities, and I recent Dodd that had imrpopireties in his mortgages, and hundreds of politicians envolved with one thing or another are the same people making rules and spending away.Well thats the fun and the benefits,The country needs leaders in all parties all religions and all races that are concerned with us.Have a great,Day.Sincerely.thanku

amapola101.. I appreciate your response and your thoughts amapola. And I agree that these I have listed represent a minority view of world. Unfortunately they are those adept at manipulating information and selling it to the world. They use gastapo bullying tactics (your not a patriot) to put down any serious debate of their views.

I am encouraged that AIPAC has a counter world view in the new J street PAC. They are zionist as well, however Jstreet is challenging the conventional Likud agressive posture to palestinian and using language of inclusion versus exculsion and fear mongering

slmpirate,You are right, I am not a sophisticate politician.I cannot argue and I certainly do not want to. You have every right and are correct in the things you say.,That I can understand. The only thing I know, when they talk about the jews this ,the zionistt that, the wealth, etc. For every crooked zionist we can equate 1000,of others equeal to one.. And believe me they come in every which way.,every color, every size and shape, religion &race. But this is not political talk,Im off to work and I hope i really do, that our country can strenghten, that this administration can focus, and help everyone, small buss, not just banks, and thanks for your answer.,I like to learn, I like and respect and listen to different views. We need good leaders, all different ones but honest and caring and unfortunately the people in the country 70% are disillusioned. There are wonderful politicians, congress, senators, but it does not come thru as the majority..There is nothing greater, than to admire, and respect the leaders. and all I hear all day, is we have the same.the same group as before, and left and right,,and the farthest thing from some of their minds,is what we want, and need.,Ciao!

That the Dems seem too close to Wall Street and the banking industry is one of the things that is hurting them, and will continue to do so in the future. This is a reform era and we're in the middle of a depression, so the last thing the Dems need to do is get too friendly with any big business interests or seem negligent of the concerns of ordinary people.

Dodd amazes me. He is involved in so many shady operations yet he struts around proudly when he should be skulking away in shame.
